Research Health Scientist
US Department of Veterans Affairs
Houston, Texas, United States
Dr. Boykin is a clinical psychologist and researcher at the Center for Innovations in Quality, Effectiveness, and Safety at the Houston VA Medical Center. She is also an Assistant Professor in the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Services at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Boykin primary conducts health services research to improve mental health care access equity among Veterans from marginalized backgrounds. She currently holds a VA career development award and leads/co-leads several other VA funded studies.
Dr. Boykin is excited about being an inaugural ABCT Change Leader. As an early career professional and member of underrepresented communities in science, it can be intimidating to approach leadership opportunities in a large organization like ABCT. Dr. Boykin has enjoyed getting familiar with the organizational structure, board functions, and opportunities for involvement. Most importantly, she has loved taking part in initiatives led by other Change Leaders to improve the diversity, equity, inclusiveness, accessibility, and fairness within ABCT.
