Clinical Psychology Intern
Montefiore Medical Center
Celenia DeLapp (she/ella) received her PhD Clinical Psychology at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., specializing in Children, Families, and Cultures. She completed both her predoctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY. As a first-generation Venezuelan American and bilingual service provider, Celenia brings a deep commitment to integrating social justice and cultural responsiveness into her clinical and academic work. Her career has been marked by a dedication to uplifting marginalized voices and fostering equity through culturally informed care, leadership, and advocacy. Celenia has developed and delivered a 12-part curriculum on Culturally Responsive Clinical Care and has served in various leadership roles that directly engage with diverse communities. Her academic activism is reflected in her research, which focuses on psychological resilience within the Latine immigrant community and how BIPOC clients cope with racial stress and trauma. She is also deeply committed to ongoing personal education in cultural humility and responsiveness, continuously seeking to challenge systems and practices that perpetuate inequity. As a self-identified Academic Activist, Celenia is driven by a mission to amplify the voices of those traditionally excluded from power and to use her expertise in clinical psychology to create positive, systemic change. She sees her role as a CHANGE leader within the field of psychology as an opportunity to collaborate with like-minded individuals and further her goals of advancing equity and social justice in mental health care.
