Dr. Gio Ramos is an incoming Assistant Professor in Clinical Science at the University of California, Berkeley. His research aims to reduce mental health inequities affecting racially and ethnically minoritized populations by 1) identifying risk & resilience factors that influence mental health outcomes, 2) improving the cultural and contextual fit of treatments using data-driven approaches, and 3) making digital mental health interventions more responsive to the needs of marginalized communities.
Gio has a longstanding commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in higher education, clinical training, and professional organizations. As a CHANGE Leader, he has been examining how DEI initiatives have shaped the science presented at the annual ABCT conference, and in his role as an Associate Editor, promoting diversity science in ABCT's Cognitive and Behavioral Practice journal.
